Write letters, create mail art with Spokane Correspondence Club

It’s a simple thing, but there’s something special about checking your mail and seeing that you’ve received a letter.

Not a bill, not a reminder of your next dentist appointment or a campaign flyer, but a letter, something that tells you someone has taken time out of their day to let you know they’re thinking about you.

In a world of email, text messaging and Facebook, many of us don’t put pen to paper enough, but one local group is hoping to change that.

The Spokane Correspondence Club invites one and all to spend a little time writing letters and creating mail art Sunday at Coeur d’Alene Park.

The group will provide some letter-writing supplies, like paper, pens and envelopes, but attendees are also welcome to bring extras for themselves or to share with the rest of the club.

Attendees can find the club at the picnic tables on the west end of the park, near Third Avenue and Spruce Street.

The Spokane Correspondence Club was inspired by Olympia Zine Fest’s Correspondence Club, which was inspired by the Portland Correspondence Co-op.

Membership is not required to participate in Spokane Correspondence Club events.
