Chef Steve Geving is hosting his last regular cooking class at the Blanchard Community Center.

After eight years of organizing the popular offering, which he calls Selectable Delectables, he’s decided it’s time to retire once and for all.

Fishing, he said, “is calling.”

On the menu for his last class: wild mushroom and wild rice soup with Gruyere cheese crostini, Christmas-style Alaskan halibut, and Cabo San Lucas Christmas casserole with corn tortillas, beef, pork, chorizo, cactus, grilled corn, beans, chilies, avocado and Tecate beer.

For dessert, there’s Christmas bread pudding with Grand Marnier cognac sauce.

The class runs from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Blanchard Community Center, 685 Rusho Lane in Blanchard.

The cost is $25 per person. Call (208) 437-0426 to reserve a spot. Seating is limited to 50 people.
