It’s going to be a busy weekend for the Spokane String Quartet.

First up, the group – cellist Helen Byrne, second violinist Amanda Howard-Phillips, violist Jeannette Wee-Yang and first violinist Mateusz Wolski – will make its KPBX Kids’ Concert debut Saturday in the Commandery Room at Riverside Place.

“We at SPR are privileged to have worked closely with the Spokane String Quartet for many years, both broadcasting their performances on ‘Concert of the Week’ and presenting music and conversation with them here in our studios,” Spokane Public Radio’s Jim Tevenan said in a press release. “We are delighted that they will perform this special program for young listeners at our next KPBX Kids’ Concert.”

The next day, the quartet will perform “Schubert and Beethoven” at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox.

The program includes String Quartet in B Flat Major, D. 36 and Quartettsatz, D. 703, both by Franz Schubert, and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Quartet in A Minor, Op. 132.

“Schubert and Beethoven” closes the Spokane String Quartet’s season, so catch them while you can.
