One dead in Bonners Ferry shooting

One person was killed in a shooting in Bonners Ferry on Thursday night.

Police declined to identify the victim, who was not a resident of Boundary County, until his or her family is notified.

The shooting was reported at about 7:30 p.m. near U.S. Highway 95 and Denver Street, according to the Bonners Ferry Police Department. The victim was dead when police arrived.

In a post on the department’s Facebook page, Assistant Chief Marty Ryan said there were several private surveillance systems in the area and police expect to be able to identify a suspect quickly.

The Boundary County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene. Idaho State Police assisted in the investigation.
