Thin Air Community Radio hosts Semi-Annual Record Expo on Sunday
After canceling the spring Record Expo because of the coronavirus pandemic, Thin Air Community Radio will host its Semi-Annual Record Expo in Kendall Yards on Sunday.
The expo, in partnership with local collector J.J. Wandler of Gold Rush Auction Services, will feature vendors from across the state and the Northwest selling records, CDs, posters and tapes.
“Many have been isolating for six months now with only their TVs and stereos to keep them occupied,” Wandler said in a news release. “Music is a constant companion, and as we go into dark days of fall and winter, this is a great opportunity for folks to expand their collection while interacting with knowledgeable vendors.”
While past expos were in the Community Building, this year the event will be held outdoors in Kendall Yards. Masks and social distancing will be required, and only 14 people will be allowed to browse at a time. Walk-ins will be admitted as capacity allows, but attendees are encouraged to reserve a time online in advance.
The Record Expo will be at the Nest, 1335 Summit Parkway. Early admission, from 9-9:30 a.m., is $10. General admission, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., is $2.

“At KYRS, music is our community,” Kate Burke, who serves on the board for Thin Air Community Radio, said in the release. “Our record sale is a way to show that we care about the vendors in the region who are struggling because of COVID. This is a safe, fun way to bring a little joy in a stressful time.”
