Nonprofit collecting electronics for recycling

The Artisans, a nonprofit that helps disabled people with job placement, is collecting electronics for recycling in celebration of Earth Day. Any working or not working electronic item, whether it plugs in or has a battery, including televisions with CRT glass fronts, may be dropped off for free from noon to 6 p.m. Friday at the Spokane Valley Walmart, 5025 E. Sprague Ave., or the North Spokane Walmart, 9212 N. Colton St.

Snow White is a senior cat available for adoption at the Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service. Shelter workers say she’s super sweet and loves to be cuddled. Kyle Smithgall decided he wanted to be good at tennis. “The first time I saw the elite players (in the Greater Spokane League) was when I was a freshman,” the University High senior said. “I was playing No. 4 singles and I had never played tennis before. I saw guys who had played so much tennis and I decided that I wanted to be like them. I wanted to be able to compete with them.
