National Weather Service forecasters this morning said the Inland Northwest can expect a few more days of temperatures in the 80s, but a late July warm up is likely coming by this weekend.
The July sun continues today through the weekend, but forecasters said the hint of a storm system passing through the region should kick up winds later today.
A strong cold front is bringing gusty winds and numerous power outages to the Inland Northwest today from a marked change from the hot July temperatures over the past four days.
A violent hail storm damaged crops in the Coulee City and Hartline areas of Grant County Wednesday evening, sending water down gullies and leaving up to six inches of hail piled on the ground.
Blue skies this morning followed Wednesday’s high of 80 at Spokane International Airport, which was only the second time this year that the temperature has reached 80 or higher there.
Sunshine is making its return to the Inland Northwest for the next two days, but forecasters said that humidity left over from a two-day rain storm is causing clouds to form during the early part of the day today.
This week’s cool and wet weather has moved off to the east, but not the clouds associated with a broad area of lower air pressure that remains in place across the Pacific Northwest.
