George Sayler
A candidate for Council Seat 3, City of Coeur d'Alene in the 2011 Idaho General Election
Party:
City: Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
Occupation: Retired teacher and former state legislator
On this race:
Sayle, 67, said he’s running because he loves the city. He’s lived here 40 years, taught high school government for 31 years and served eight years in the state Legislature. As a member of the Tubbs Hill Foundation, he promises to preserve and protect the popular nature park. He wants to move the McEuen Field plan forward “in a way that the community will support.” He wants to maintain the public services the city has in a cost-effective way. He wants to work to improve the East Sherman Avenue neighborhood. He supported city pay raises because they were contractual, but felt the city could have communicated better about why they were necessary. He wants to save the trees on the dike road that the Army Corps of Engineers said need to be cut for levee stability. “I’m intending to be a positive voice and to bring a spirit of working together to get things done.”
