Hunger roundtable hosts session tonight on climate change and food security in Idaho
The Idaho Interfaith Roundtable Against Hunger is hosting an event tonight at the Cole and Ustick branch library, 7557 W. Ustick Road in Boise, on impacts of climate change on Idaho’s food system, featuring two Boise State professors, a farmer from Middleton and a rancher from Owyhee County. Topics will include the impact on local producers’ food production due to the Soda Fire in Owyhee County and extreme winter weather in Middleton, and how climate change impacts food availability in Idaho. Presenters include BSU sociology professor Rebecca Som Castellano; BSU geosciences professor Jen Pierce; Arlie Sommer of Purple Sage Farm in Middleton; and Brenda Richards of Richards Ranch in Owyhee County.
The session runs from 7-8:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
