Daily Briefing

Ain’t no story like a pig farm story

Looks like a sure-fire crowd-pleaser on Page One tomorrow: A Rathdrum businessman owns a parcel of land just outside the city limits, and wants to build a commercial building there. The county won't rezone the land for him, though, so he's threatening to build a pig farm. A handful of 600-pound boars, about 200 sows, and a nice sign that says the "Makin' Bacon Ranch." Now that's good reading.

Also tomorrow:
-- More details in the story of Dr. William Fouche, the Post Falls doctor who was sentenced today to four years in prison for video voyeurism.
-- A story on a local Air Force veteran suffering from ALS. Health reporter Megan Cooley will talk about possible reasons why Gulf War veterans show a higher risk of developing Lou Gehrig's Disease.
-- The City Council is expected to approve a new 12-year cable franchise with Comcast. We'll cover it.
-- A survey shows that Spokane and Kootenai county voters favor decisive actions to improve the quality of the Spokane River, even if that means greater inconvenience or expense. For those so inclined, there's more on the subject on our River Dialogues page.
