Election post-mortem

After a short conversation about vote counting and possible concession speeches, Gary Graham said he thought last night's election coverage went well.

Carla Savalli agreed calling the coverage,"A great package across all platforms."
In particular Savalli noted the increased and timely multimedia coverage, the great analytical narrative writing and the non-traditional story formats incorporated in the coverage.

There was also a short conversation about the treatment on the Russell story. Savalli thought that the headline could have had some more weight to it, but most agreed that the two-story package was a good way to handle the story.

Addy Hatch mentioned that Rich Roesler had gone a above and beyond on the Russell coverage by writing a full story for either possible verdict so we could post the complete story as soon as the verdict was announced.

Each weekday morning and afternoon, the newsroom staff meets to discuss the coverage plan. This blog covers editors' discussions, upcoming coverage and miscellaneous newsroom news.
