HBO — to Gary Ingram re: Property Tax Relief

Gary Ingram: "DFO, as Ronald Reagan used to say, "There you go again" as you poison the well by saying that South Idaho Republicans are blocking property tax reform. That is absolutely untrue. All proposals have been allowed a hearing, the Rev and Tax committee is voting on these proposals and bills have moved out of committee to the floor and are on the calendar for debate, some even to day, at this hour."

DFO: Gary, until Repubs deliver on property tax relief, I'm going to keep the flame burning brightly under their back sides. I was all over Gov. Dirk Kempthorne re: property tax when he visited out Editorial Board after the State of the State Address. If you recall, Ron Rankin had to threaten Phil Batt with another 1% initiative to force him to provide statewide property tax relief in the mid-1990s. Rankin's not around any more. So, I've been beating his drum loudly when it comes to relief -- so loudly that even Newcomb and Geddes will hear it, even it Crow doesn't. Until legislation is passed and signed (Kempthorne isn't happy with a 75-75 homeowners exemption), I'm going to pound the supermajority party to get something done.
