Justin Koonce, a firefighter for the Roswell Fire Department, in Roswell, N.M., descends a ladder after rescuing a kitten from a tree in the backyard of Jeanette Schaffer on Wednesday, with the assistance of three of his colleagues below. Schaffer, who was unsure who the cat belonged to, said a dog had chased it up the tree about a day or so ago.
