Pert: Opposing Views Enhance Enjoyment

Raymond Pert (to TT): I find that Christianity has several glaring deficiencies as a world view and that other ways of seeing the world have helped me live a fuller spiritual life. Maybe we aren't alike in this, but when Sam said that your devoutness might keep you from enjoying "Candide," I shuddered. My devoutness is exactly what increases my enjoyment of "Candide" and "Moby Dick" and Shakespeare and the Tao and Thich Nhat Hanh and scores of other writings that are not Christian -- and that, in some cases, take a jaundiced view of Christianity. More here.

Question: Do you actively seek to read or hear views that are counter to your particular world- or religious-view?
