Tn_Top_Hat: Gonna Drive, Hang The Cost
RE: 55 MPH: Would you support double-nickel?
I do not support lower speed limits where it cannot be proven that lives are in danger - so this should be done state by state, highway by highway. Otherwise it's just another stricture on freedom - in this case mobility. As to whether energy savings is really a national priority right now, I think that's more in who you ask. Me, I see a country that spent 75 years building highways and pimping automobiles turning on its people all of a sudden - save gas! It's an emergency! - because the goverment's broken the bank fighting a corrupt war. And it now faces an economic crisis at home. In those things, in the highway building and the Detroit-pimping and the wars, where is the sense that energy savings is a national priority? The automobile is my birthright - uniquely American. I'm going to drive, whatever the cost/Tn_Top_Hat.
Question: Do you resent drivers who own SUVs and other gas-guzzling cars?
