16 Races So Far In GOP Precincts

There's intense interest again in the precinct committeemen posts for the Kootenai County GOP Central Committee. With a little more than a day left to file, there are 16 contested races among the 70 precinct spots. Sixteen precinct spots have no candidate yet. The most contested precinct race now is for Precinct 15, where four candidates have announced: Larry Spencer, Gordy Ormesher, Kellie Palm and Frank Reid. Other races involving high-profile Republicans include: Precinct 13 -- Donna Montgomery & Jennifer Locke; 16 -- Ruthie Johnson & Robert Siegwarth; 18 --Norene Lamoreaux & Matt Roetter; 19 -- William Colacurcio & Duane Rasmussen; 23 -- Jeff Ward & Courtenay Ellison; 25 -- Kevin Krieg & Ron Lahr; 41 -- G. Scott Noble & Barry McHugh; 46 -- Bruce McKay & Marv Lekstrum; and 49 -- Rick Currie & Mike Oliver. Kootenai County Democrats, meanwhile, have no contested precinct races and only 22 candidates for 70 open spots. Complete list here.

Question: OK, HucksOnline needs a Kootenai County GOP insider to interpret what these races mean. Are the Ron Paulers defending their gains from last election? Or trying to increase their CC control?
