Buquet, Victim Knew Each Other

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Department confirmed today that a 19-year-old Hayden man shot to death by Coeur d'Alene police and a man he'd shot earlier knew one another. A news release circulated moments ago by sheriff's Mayor Ben Wolfinger didn't detail how Christian Buquet (Mallon) and Frank James, 30, of Coeur d'Alene, were acquainted. The KCSD added that James, who was shot in the chest by Buquet at 11th and Lakeside around 11 a.m. Saturday, was in stable condition today at Kootenai Medical Center after undergoing surgery Saturday afternoon. An autopsy was performed today on Buquet, who died in a shootout along Coeur d'Alene Lake Driver near Higgens Point. Autopsy results are expected to take several days while toxicology results are expected to take six to eight weeks, the news release said.
