Sequester: D’s Underestimated R’s

Amid the rampant finger-pointing over which party is to blame for the imminent sequester, Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said Tuesday that Democrats underestimated the "irresponsibility" of Republicans to allow the across-the-board cuts to take effect. The minority whip said Democrats backed the sequester only as a desperation move to prevent a government default 18 months ago, when GOP leaders were insisting on sharp spending cuts to accompany a last-minute debt-ceiling hike. But no one, Hoyer said, thought Republicans would let those cuts kick in – until now/Mike Lillis, The Hill. More here.

Question: Which party deserves the blame/credit, should sequestration become a reality -- Democrats, Republicans, both?
