Leaf Pickup Under Way

As the fall turns to winter every year street crews begin its annual Leaf-fest. Leaf Pickup historically will generate over 1400 tons of leaves from all corners of town. The leaves are pulled away from the gutter of the streets where loaders will bunch them into the intersections. There they will be loaded into dumptrucks and hauled to the Kootenai County Solid Waste site for shredding. The leaves are shredded with wood debris, to become compost or used as fuel for power. Timing of the annual event starts in early November (around Veterans Day and will end the 1st of December) More here. (Photo: Coeur d'Alene Today)

Question: Do you consider the annual leaf pickup by the city of Coeur d'Alene to be a needed/unneeded expense?
