KCSD Takes Break From Lake Search

Efforts by the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office to locate the body of Gary Scott Shawver on Lake Coeur d’Alene are ongoing. Shawver, 57, reportedly jumped into the lake near Stevens Point shortly before 7:30 p.m. Saturday in an effort to retrieve an item that fell from the boat he was in. According to Lt. Stu Miller, the sheriff’s office SONAR boat was deployed for a total of 20 hours Monday and Tuesday, scouring an area of the lake that was targeted using the GPS location taken from where the 911 call was made. “Today I gave the SONAR team a break from the search. Between the heat and the other variables on the lake the search has been difficult,” Miller said Wednesday. Miller said the SONAR team will be back on the lake early Thursday, before most boat activity begins/Keith Cousins, Coeur d'Alene Press. More here.
