Pope To Youngsters: Get Off The Web

In this file photo Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, Pope Francis has his picture taken inside St. Peter's Basilica with youths from the Italian Diocese of Piacenza and Bobbio who came to Rome for a pilgrimage, at the Vatican. (AP Photo/L'Osservatore Romano, File)

Pope Francis yesterday issued some wisdom for young people at a service of 50,000 German altar servers urging them to commit good deeds rather than waste time on the “futile” internet. The 77-year-old said the internet was a “gift from God” but expressed concerns that people are losing themselves’ online. He added that social media should be “a network not of wires but of people.” The Pope, who regularly shares his views of modern life with the 4.3m followers of his "futile" '@Pontifex' Twitter account, feels people are too reliant upon technology/The Drum. More here.

Question: Are young people the only ones who need to hear the Pope's message re: unplugging?
