County Institutes Merit Pay Raises 

If I'm reading the Kootenai County press release correctly, commissioners have approved a 3% pay raise for county workers. But they're letting department heads decide which workers should get more than 3% and which should get less. That's part of a nearly $89M budget proposal for the county in FY2016, a $1.5M budget increase.

KCSD IDs Man Killed In Shootout

The man killed in a shootout with Bonner County deputies and a Sandpoint police officer has been identified as Casey George Alarcon, 34, of Sandpoint. According to a KCSD news release, Alarcon fired 2 shots at the officers before he was fatally wounded by return fire from one of the deputies.
