NCAA Lifts UI’s Postseason Ban

Idaho says the NCAA has lifted the football team's postseason ban imposed for failing to meet academic standards for the 2009 through 2012 seasons. The school said in a statement Monday that efforts by coach Paul Petrino, who took over in December 2012, resulted in grade point averages of 2.55 in his four semesters as head coach. The ban started in the 2014 season. Athletic department spokeswoman Becky Paull said the ban could have been extended had players not met certain goals/Associated Press. More here.

Question: Given the condition of the University of Idaho Vandal football team over the last few years, isn't the lifting of a postseason ban an academic exercise with little meaning?
