Nash challenges Handeen in GOP Precinct 52

While Precinct 52 (Borah Triangle) Committeeman Bjorn Handeen has been busy organizing precinct candidates in Latah County, Ronda Nash has been preparing to run against him. Nash, the secretary of the Kootenai County Republican Women, questioned Handeen's work for his precinct in a statement to Huckleberries Online: "I am a Conservative Republican. Supporting the Republican platform and the Republicans in office is very important. We shouldn’t be picking and choosing what benefits us. I am uncertain how a Libertarian and or a Constitutionalist can call themselves Republicans. It still baffles me. As a precinct committeeman, I don’t think putting forth ridiculous resolutions and trying to solve US or world problems should be your goal. The definition of a precinct committeeman is well defined and needs to be followed." Nash was referring to a recent resolution promoted by Handeen in Huckleberries Online and in the Coeur d'Alene Press that called for removing the United States from NATO. The county GOP Central Committee passed the resolution in February.

Nash, who was born and raised in the Silver Valley and is past president of the Wallace Chamber of Commerce and Shoshone County Republican Women, added: "(Handeen's) beliefs and mine are two different things and he should be listening to his precinct. That is why I am stepping up and I will be going door to door, along with my 13-year-old son, in my precinct, to hear what the Republican voters are saying and to give them the resources to help, when needed. You really have to ask yourself whether he has been at your doorstep or available by phone, and whether he has helped you in any way. Sometimes the power goes to one’s head, which doesn’t do anything to help the REPUBLICAN voters in a precinct."
