City fixing NW Blvd cloverleaf area

From Deputy City Administrator Sam Taylor:

Some crucial road maintenance near the Northwest Boulevard-Interstate 90 interchange this morning!

Over the next week or so our amazing Streets & Engineering Department crew will be laying asphalt to patch areas outside of the "clover" of this interchange area. While they will be working earlier in the morning to avoid most of the rush hours, please use caution and go slow while they work.

We have received a lot of feedback about this area since the very harsh winter caused substantial damage - and we thought we would provide some clarification about who controls this.

The entire interchange, and down to Appleway on one side and Lakewood on the other is state owned and managed. The Idaho Transportation Department has also had to deal with severe winter damage throughout the entire region and so they told us they focused their maintenance inside the clover of the interchange.

So the City of Coeur d'Alene stepped up and volunteered to make these repairs on our community's behalf. We thought it was important to offer partnership to ITD and to make sure these repairs were made more quickly.

Huge kudos to the Streets folks for working for some time now to seek permission from ITD to work on this. We look forward to more partnership in the future that may help us make repairs in this area more quickly on your behalf, too!
