Idaho Super Hunt tag winners range from California to Texas
HUNTING – A hunter from Texas has won Idaho’s coveted super hunt combo that allows widespread access to hunting elk, deer, pronghorn and moose, Fish and Game Department officials say.
Hunters purchase lottery tickets for the four species and the combo hunt. Two drawings are held each year and tickets are sold across the country. The combo hunt attracted 2,538 entries.
Hunters from Oregon and Utah won the two super hunt deer tags from 5,673 entries. Hunters from Idaho and Montana won the two elk tags from 7,689 entries. Two Idaho hunters won the two pronghorn tags from 1,675 entries and a California hunter won the moose tag from 4,504 entries.
State law prohibits Fish and Game from releasing the names of the winners.
Winners can participate in any open hunt in the state for their super hunt species, including general hunts and controlled hunts, in addition to any general season or controlled hunt tags they also hold. All other rules of individual hunts apply.
More than $168,000 was raised in the drawing. Proceeds benefit the Access Yes! Program, which supports landowners who provide hunter and angler access to or across private land.
