Sue Goodrich of Rathdrum, Idaho, nominated her family's cat Callie.

"She is, without a doubt, an unsung hero who deserves recognition."

Sue said Callie oversees all sorts of activities on their cattle and hay ranch in a supervisory capacity.

"Callie defends over 200 tons of hay and several tons of grain from invading pests by dispatching all mice and other rodents as well as disposing of their remains. She is capable of catching two mice at one leap and holding one down while devouring the other."

She said Callie has a sweet disposition and is friendly with everyone. Well, except for vermin.
