Bulldogs defeat San Diego 82-65

Gonzaga scored the first 19 points and led by 24 midway through the first half, but San Diego made the Bulldogs work the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs saw their lead dwindle to 10 in the first half and 12 in the second before Gonzaga finished off an 82-65 victory Saturday at the McCarthey Athletic Center.

Steven Gray scored 19 points, Matt Bouldin 16 and Manny Arop 13 for the 16th-ranked Bulldogs (21-4, 9-1). Gonzaga leads Saint Mary’s and Portland by two games in the loss column. The Gaels (21-5, 8-3) lost to Portland (16-8, 7-3) in overtime.

Brandon Johnson led USD (9-18, 2-9) with 21 points and eight rebounds.
