Exhibition games on tap this weekend

Our basketball preview section comes out tomorrow. The plan is to link to the women's stories as soon as possible before heading off to the Tri-Cities to cover a football playoff game on Friday and state cross country on Saturday.

Plan to use Friday's post as a forum to discuss how the area teams look during their exhibition games. Idaho plays LC State on Friday, Gonzaga plays Western Oregon on Saturday and Eastern plays Simon Fraser and Washington State plays LCSC on Sunday. I'll be curious to hear your opinions and if you see LC State, which has a handful of area players, how they looking, including freshman and special friend Loree Hill.

There are a few notes for today on the extended entry.

Sophomore Katie Baker (Lake City) scored 18 points to lead Montana to an exhibition win over Carroll College. Junior Alyssa Green (Mead) led the Saints with a game-high 23 points, hitting six 3's. It appears the oft-injured Misty Atkinson (Clarkston) is going to have to call it a career early because she hurt her shoulder again.

Lyndi Seidensticker (Lewis and Clark) scored 15 points as Montana State beat Montana Tech in an exhibition. I was so used to checking Tech for Jessica DePell (Freeman) in past years, all the names looked familiar. Now Tech has Amanda Krieg, a senior from Springdale via Wenatchee Valley CC.

Heidi Heintz had 12 points as UC Davis won its exhibition.

Sophomore Jeneva Anderson (Lewis and Clark) did not play in the Huskies exhibition win over Western Washington but she did a Q&A. She had hip surgery in the offseason and is not expected to play until January.

I'll tell you now ... keeping up with all the players isn't going to be easy with all my other duties. Any help is appreciated ... especially if you're following players below the D-I level. You're welcome to update with comments or email me. In the every-changing newspaper world, we can put unlimited information on-line but it's going to be tougher to get everything in print.
