This week in preps

We reached the halfway mark of the regular-season in Washington football last week. What do you see happening from here on out? The big game this week in the Greater Spokane League is University (2-3) vs. North Central (2-3) in 3A. The winner will most likely lock up the 3A top playoff berth. That would leave the NC/Mt. Spokane, the last week of the regular season, to decide the second berth.

Any teams surprise you so far? Any teams disappoint?

In volleyball, the big 64-team Crossover Classic is this weekend at four sites: Ferris, Rogers, Lewis and Clark and Shadle Park. The championship final is Saturday at 6:30 at Ferris. Many of the top teams in the state, including all the GSL teams and most of the North Idaho teams, will be on hand.

Here's your thread to start the week. Talk away. Click the tab below to read a couple of my thoughts.

Ferris (5-0) hasn't surprised me. The Saxons bottled up a very good Central Valley (4-1) in the second half Friday and then used its time-killing offense to hold off the Bears.

Interesting logjam for second between CV, Mead (4-1) and Lewis and Clark (4-1). A game behind them is Gonzaga Prep (3-2), which has no wiggle room left. Should be an interesting October.
