GU, Pitt in 2015 Armed Forces Classic

We interrupt Sunday NFL football for a bit of basketball news.

Gonzaga, which opens the 2014 season against visiting Sacramento State on Friday, has lined up a big game for the 2015 season. The Bulldogs will face Pittsburgh in the 2015 Armed Forces Classic next November at a U.S. Marine Corps base in Okinawa, Japan. The game is tentatively set for Friday, Nov. 13, 2015. An official announcement is expected later this week.

This year's Armed Forces Classic features Louisville, coached by Rick Pitino, and Minnesota, coached by Pitino's son, Richard, on Friday in Puerto Rico. Minnesota is a potential GU opponent this season at the NIT Season Tip-Off in New York City.

Gonzaga's 2015 schedule will be challenging in terms of travel and opponents. In addition to Pitt, the Zags play in the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas, entertain UCLA and Arizona and visit SMU.
