WSU picked to finish No. 4 in the Pac-12 North

Checking in here from Pac-12 Media Day in Hollywood, California, where in just a couple hours college football coaches and players will tell the assembled scribes just how little they care about the Pac-12 preseason media poll and the expectations it conveys.

But, maybe you care, dear reader, so here it is:

North Division

South Division

  1. Stanford (24) 186
  1. UCLA (19) 180
  1. Washington (8) 163

2.    USC (12) 173

  1. Oregon (1) 132

3.    Utah (2) 127

  1. Washington State 112

4.    Arizona 87

       5.    California 67

       5.    Arizona State 85

       6.    Oregon State 33

       6.    Colorado 63

As you can see, Stanford received the most votes of any school. Believe it or not, this is the first time that’s happened in the 56-year history of the poll.

Despite WSU’s third-place finish last season, the Cougars were only selected to finish No. 4 by the media members (although a few local writers seem to think differently). So, the Cougars still have some work to do to impress people whose opinions they couldn’t care less about. Got it?

Oh, and there’s a decent chance Mike Leach will say something unusual in the next few hours. I’ll let you know when it happens, so refresh this blog accordingly.
