Sue Lani Madsen: Simply caring isn’t the answer to problem of homelessness

Everyone cares about homelessness. A shopkeeper repairing vandalism cares. A man finding his car windows smashed overnight cares. Elected officials trying to provide a safe city care. Even the homeless care, especially when being homeless is so readily conflated with crime. Caring isn’t the problem. Passing laws requiring solutions doesn’t make it so, it just establishes who gets to take the fall.

Faith and Values: I believe hell isn’t permanent

When discussing the concept of an afterlife, we talk a lot about heaven, but we also talk a lot about hell and what it means to be condemned. Traditionally, hell has been described as a place of eternal damnation, but I see it as a prison sentence with the possibility of parole.

Commentary: Another case where Trump’s flagrant misconduct won’t end in charges

The last two weeks have produced a torrent of evidence of then-President Donald Trump’s brazen and systematic violations of the Presidential Records Act. Between his habitual, illegal destruction of documents, and his shepherding out of the White House, and down to Mar-a-Lago, at least 15 boxes of public records – some marked “Top secret” – Trump’s serial violations of the act demonstrate yet again his attitude that laws just don’t apply to him.
