Annual Heritage Museum luncheon explores Spokane Valley history

The Spokane Valley Heritage Museum is holding its 15th Annual Heritage Program Luncheon Saturday, which will feature a presentation on Spokane Valley’s history. Spokane Valley Heritage Museum Director Jayne Singleton and historian Chuck King will provide a presentation titled, “Spokane Valley: Where it All Began, 1858-1930,” that will detail history of the Saltese area, early homesteaders of Millwood, pioneer trails and the oldest home in Spokane Valley once owned by early pioneer Daniel Courchaine.

Avista spends $200,000 supporting county commissioners Kuney and French

Avista Corp. is spending heavily in the Spokane County commissioner races by dropping nearly $200,000 on re-election television advertisements for commissioners Mary Kuney and Al French. In Avista Corp.’s largest independent campaign expenditure to date, the company in August contributed more than $99,500 per commissioner in “independent expenditures” for television ads and production costs, according to Washington State Public Disclosure Commission filings.
