Ledbetter twins at home in Rangers family

Twenty-six years elapsed before a major league baseball team drafted a player from Cedarville (Ohio) University. That player, Spokane Indians starting pitcher David Ledbetter, held his place in school lore for two days, until another Yellow Jackets player was selected in the draft by the same team, the Texas Rangers. Ledbetter gladly shared the spotlight with his Cedarville teammate, fellow pitcher Ryan Ledbetter, who happens to be his identical twin. “You couldn’t have scripted that any better in a storybook,” said David.

Indians almost overcome sloppy play, fall to Eugene

The Spokane Indians’ six-game winning streak ended Saturday night because of a case of “shooting-in-the-footitis.” The Indians played sloppy baseball in the early innings and made a key baserunning blunder during an explosive ninth inning while suffering a 9-8 setback to the Eugene Emeralds in a 3-hour, 36-minute game at Avista Stadium. Spokane leads the five-game Northwest League series 2-1.

Spokane Indians beat Emeralds in 12 innings

Brandon Garcia delivered for Kevin Torres, so Torres came up with his own special delivery for Garcia. Garcia’s two-out, two-strike double to right-center in the 12th inning Friday night scored Torres from first base as the Spokane Indians extended their winning streak to six games with a 4-3 win over Eugene.

Spokane Indians use six-run inning to win

Sam Wolff watched the Spokane Indians’ seventh inning unfold on Thursday night and tried to act as if nothing happened. The Indians sent 12 runners to the plate during a six-run seventh to storm past the Eugene Emeralds 10-3 before a sellout crowd of 7,027 at Avista Stadium.

The Spokane Indians thought they knew what to expect from Bobby Brosnahan. That notion proved false Thursday night as Brosnahan ended the Indians’ eight-game homestand on a sour note for the fans at Avista Stadium.

Indians end homestand with loss

The Spokane Indians thought they knew what to expect from Bobby Brosnahan. That notion proved false Thursday night as Brosnahan ended the Indians’ eight-game homestand on a sour note for the fans at Avista Stadium. Brosnahan (1-1) pitched five shutout innings, striking out seven, walking none and allowing three harmless singles as his Vancouver Canadians capped a three-game Northwest League series with a 5-2 victory.
