Add another honor to the glowing list of accomplishments for the 2004 Eastern Washington University football team. It’s worth a look back

A quick glance is deceiving. It appears the playoff-bound 8-3 Eastern Washington football team of 2004 looks a lot like the 1997 Eagles that made it as far as the I-AA semifinals, finishing with a 12-2 record.

It may be an exhibition game, but Eastern Washington University men's basketball coach Mike Burns is taking tonight's game with Central Washington seriously. "We're going to approach it like we would a regular-season game," the first-year coach said. "We'll scout it. We'll go through our regular routine. They're going to be tough."

We play a nationally-ranked team and this game has huge implications for the future for both teams."

Bobcats prowl for Sky crown

Mike Kramer and the Montana State Bobcats went from sleight of hand to sledgehammer to take control of the Big Sky Conference football race. After three consecutive wins secured on the last possession, MSU went to Northern Arizona – where the Wildcats hadn't won since 1979 – and pounded the Lumberjacks 60-14.

The Eastern Washington football team got a double dose of good news recently when Sumner High School running back Robert Pearson and lineman Chris Thomas committed to the Eagles. Clear reception

Air Force won the Sept. 11 football game 42-20, but at the start of the second half Eastern Washington was still in the game, trailing 28-13. "There was a play against Air Force when it was fourth down, about fourth-and-8," EWU junior wide receiver Craig McIntyre recalled. "I was in the huddle and the route was called for me. That let me know the coaches had confidence in that situation to come to me and Erik (Meyer) had confidence to throw to me. I caught it, found the chains and it was a first down. That stands out to me."
