Mead rallies to defeat Lewis and Clark in GSL

The Mead Panthers had to get to overtime to have a chance Friday. Once they did, junior running back Davian Barlow, who scored the tying touchdown as time expired, scored on a 14-yard run on Mead’s second play in OT. Coupled with Marc David’s point-after kick, the Panthers pulled off a 21-20, come-from-behind win over the Lewis and Clark Tigers.

Mt. Spokane, a football team that’s been there, held off Shadle Park, a team that’s trying to get there. The top 3A team in the Greater Spokane League the last four years, Mt. Spokane played a turnover-free game, scoring two fourth-quarter touchdowns to stop the Highlanders 28-21 in an entertaining contest to the finish at Albi Stadium.

It’s a question Jamie Weisner says she’s been asked often since she gave Oregon State University an oral commitment last month. The Clarkston basketball standout chose OSU over Gonzaga, which advanced to the Elite Eight last year. Why would she pick a school that was winless in conference over a school that has an established winning tradition?
