Businesses and individual donors can help the Gray fire response; they can also make it worse

The Red Cross has organized two of its largest emergency evacuation shelters in recent years after the Gray and Oregon fires broke out Friday in Spokane County. And while hundreds of people displaced by wildfires need help from their community, the organization is encouraging cash donations rather than the donation of goods and offers of hands-on help.

Spokane County unemployment rate upticks in June

Spokane County's unemployment rate for June rose to 3.0%, just higher than the 2.9% reported in May by the Washington Employment Security Department. The difference represents just more than 100 jobseekers.
