Fox Announces New Fall Program Schedule
Fox, which made ratings inroads in the past with early debuts on fall series, will roll out nearly all of its primetime schedule before this season’s official Sept. 18 start date.
On Saturday, Sept. 9 - the night before Fox broadcasts the Primetime Emmy Awards show - the network will unveil its entire new Saturday lineup, starting with the fourth season of “Martin” at 8 p.m. on its new night. New “The Preston Episodes” debuts at 8:30 p.m., followed by the eighth-season debut of “Cops” at 9 p.m. and the ninth season of “America’s Most Wanted” at 9:30 p.m. - both reality shows busted down to 30 minutes.
The night following the Emmys, Fox debuts its entire Monday slate, beginning with “Melrose Place’s” fourth-season kickoff at 8 p.m., the debuting “Partners” at 9 p.m. and “Ned and Stacey” at 9:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, “The Fox Tuesday Night Movie” checks in with a tale of forbidden love and murder, “In the Name of Love: A Texas Tragedy,” starring Richard Crenna and “Melrose Place’s” Laura Leighton.
“Beverly Hills, 90210” bows in from 8-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13.
“Party of Five,” Fox’s Wednesday 9-10 p.m. show, starts its second season in its regular time slot.
Fox’s Thursday slate will get a jump on the competition with an Aug. 31 start date, including “Living Single,” entering its third season, at 8 p.m., new “The Crew” at 8:30 p.m. and “New York Undercover,” in its second season, at 9 p.m.
Fox’s Friday rollout will come in two stages: “Strange Luck” will debut in its 8 p.m. slot Sept. 15, while “The X-Files” marks the start of its third season in its regular 9-10 p.m. slot Sept. 22.
“The Simpsons” and “Married … With Children” lead Fox’s new Sunday lineup, opening Sept. 17 in their respective 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. half-hour slots.
“Space,” Fox’s big-budget post-NFL hopeful, enters with a two-hour special episode Sunday, Sept. 24, at 7-9 p.m., following the NFL doubleheader. “Space” settles into its regular 7-8 p.m. space the following week.
Fox will kick off its second season of “NFL on Fox” with a doubleheader on Sunday, Sept. 3.
