Hello, Mary Lou’s, Goodby Waistline
Before Baskin-Robbins, before
TCBY, neighborhood ice cream parlors were the place to find frozen relief on a sweltering summer day.
Fortunately, a few still survive in our area, such as Mary Lou’s in the Spokane Valley. Owners Ed and Kris Ritchie create a variety of ice creams, sherbets and frozen yogurts ranging from Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup and Spumoni (both pictured above) to Candy Apple, Chocolate Malt and Lemon Custard.
If you’re looking to cool off, a quick dip should do the trick.
Price: $1/scoop, $2/2 scoops, $2.25/pint.
Available: Mary Lou’s Home Made Ice Cream & More, 821 N. Evergreen (924-1611).
