Mountain Lion Attacks Young Boy

A mountain lion reached through the bars of its cage and attacked a 5-year-old boy who was waving a stick at the animal, authorities said.

Sterling Borchers was treated at a hospital for scratches on his chest and a 3-inch bite wound on his arm.

The boy was at the Phoenix Zoo with his father on Saturday to accompany a volunteer cleanup crew to the lion’s cage, authorities said.
