Here’s The Skinny On New Low-Fat Ice Creams
Does the world of “new reduced low-fat lite” leave your head spinning at the ice-cream freezer? Here’s a fat finder for the different categories of new ice creams. They’re listed from the highest in fat to the lowest.
Reduced fat: Contains at least 25 percent less fat than the company’s regular ice cream or than other brands of regular ice cream.
Light (or Lite): At least half the fat of regular ice cream.
Low-fat: Contains 3 grams of fat or less per 1/2-cup serving.
Fat-free: Less than 0.5 grams of fat per 1/2-cup serving.
