Kettle Falls Mayoral Race Open

Anyone who would like to be mayor of Kettle Falls has from Wednesday through Friday to tell the Stevens County auditor.

The special election filing period was announced after the unexpected resignation of Mayor Eric Weatherman, effective Aug. 15. Weatherman stated no reason in his letter of resignation, and could not be reached for comment. However, associates say he indicated his business was taking more of his time.

Mayor Pro Tem Steve B. West will fill in until someone is elected to the two years remaining in Weatherman’s term.
