State Won’t Send Children To Boys Ranch

Associated Press

No more children will be placed at the Toutle River Boys Ranch in Castle Rock because the children there were not properly supervised and have been assaulting each other, the Department of Social and Health Services says.

Social and Health Services has notified the home its license could be revoked in 28 days, the agency said Thursday in a news release.

The youths at the ranch are 14 to 18 years old, said Laurel Evans, a DSHS regional administrator.

Kyle Rahn, a ranch spokesman, said Friday he would have no comment until he met with DSHS officials.

Officials at the home were told last month that they were in jeopardy of having their license revoked, the agency said.

Management at the home was told to come up with a plan to fix the situation, but the incidents have continued, the release said.
