End Of Season Means Final Year For ‘Sisters’

New York Daily News

They’ve married each other’s husbands, comforted each other’s kids, and stood together through murder trials, cancer scares and career woes. And soon they’ll be riding off into the sunset together.

NBC’s “Sisters” will call it quits at the end of this season, series star Swoosie Kurtz acknowledged in an interview. While NBC wouldn’t confirm, Kurtz said the announcement was made internally “long before Christmas.” The show will wrap production in April.

Contracts for both Kurtz and cast mate Sela Ward expire this year; Ward previously has said this would be her last season with the show.

Original cast members remaining include Patricia Kalember (sister Georgie) and Elizabeth Hoffman, who plays the mom, Beatrice. Fourth sis Julianne Phillips left the show last season and a fifth sibling was added; actress Sheila Kelley currently plays the role.
