Man Killed, Another Wounded In Pair Of Sunday Shootings

From Staff Reports

Grant County authorities are investigating a pair of Sunday shootings that left one man dead and another critically wounded.

About 9:30 p.m., a man with a gunshot wound in his back showed up at the house of a Mattawa, Wash., firefighter seeking help, deputies said.

Oscar Perez, 24, of Mattawa, told deputies he was shot in a robbery but provided no other details. Perez was taken to Providence Hospital in Wenatchee where he underwent surgery. He was in critical condition Monday.

About 11:30 p.m. Sunday, a motorist spotted the body of Jose Valencia Salgado, 27, of Quincy, near a car parked outside Mattawa. He had been shot several times, deputies said.

Authorities think the shootings are related.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Grant County sheriff’s office at (509) 754-2011, extension 468.
