Sunshine Pleased With Drilling Results

From Staff And Wire Reports

Boise-based Sunshine Mining & Refining Co. reported encouraging results Thursday from a recently purchased Argentinian silver mine.

Sunshine bought the Pirquitas silver and tin mine last November for $1.7 million and began a development and exploration program.

Initial drilling suggests the mine could hold more than 130 million ounces of silver, with potential to find more. The mine had been active from 1936 to 1990.

Sunshine will pump water out of the mine and continue to verify the mine’s reserves while looking for more silver and tin.

Pirquitas would be mined as an open pit property instead of the underground workings it now has.

Sunshine owns and operates the Sunshine Silver Mine at Big Creek in Idaho’s Silver Valley. The company has exploration offices in Peru and Argentina.
