Better Browns

So you don’t have time to make hash browns from scratch, but you don’t particularly care for processed, packaged foods?

The frozen hash browns from Willow Wind Farms are made from certified organic potatoes grown at the farm in Ford, Wash., north of Spokane. Prepared in a nonstick skillet, without any added oil, they weigh in at only 60 fat-free calories per cup.

And best of all, unlike some of the stuff you find in the freezer case, they actually taste like real potatoes.

Price: $1.69-$1.89 for 24 ounces.

Available: At several Spokane area supermarkets, including most Tidyman’s, Yoke’s and Rosaurers stores.
