Armed, Dangerous Escapees May Be Heading For Spokane

From Staff And Wire Reports

A man suspected of robbing a Spokane Valley shoe store escaped from an Idaho prison on Thursday and is still on the loose, authorities say.

Michael Allen Wachholtz, 35, and another inmate who was serving time for murder walked away from the maximum security prison in Boise about 2 a.m.

Idaho authorities said the pair may be headed for Spokane and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Wachholtz, who was serving time for an Idaho robbery, is the chief suspect in the 1995 armed robbery of Payless Shoes, 5428 E. Sprague.

He is white, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 160 pounds. He has brown hair and blues eyes.

Wachholtz may be traveling with Joey Dean Schneider, the convicted murderer with whom he escaped. Schneider also is white, about 5 feet 7 and 165 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.

The two men may be traveling in a stolen silver-gray or faded green F100 Ford pickup with red metal racks.

Anyone who sees them should call Crime Check, 456-2233.
