We Didn’t Know Bottom Feeders Could Be Bulimic

Compiled By Staff Writer Rick Bo

What’s it like to pick up the celebrity trash?

A pair of former junk journalists, David LaFontaine and Lysa Moskowitz-Mateau, tell all in a new book titled “Poison Pen: The True Confessions of Two Tabloid Reporters.”

LaFontaine once pounded on Anjelica Huston’s door to deliver the news that her longtime sweetie, Jack Nicholson, was about to become a father by another woman, Rebecca Broussard. “She said, ‘What?!”’ he recalled. “Next thing you know she’s in the car driving over to Jack’s house.”

Moskowitz-Mateau, meanwhile, decided not to sell photos of Paula Abdul in workout gear, following treatment for eating disorders, after Abdul talked to her at length about their common battle with bulimia.

Loose talk

David Letterman, in his Top 10 list of “Other Mistakes Admitted by President Clinton” (on his “Late Show”): “Despite many opportunities, has only nailed Martha Stewart twice.”

But he was almost clubbed to death as a baby

Seal turns 34 today.

Sounds like life’s not exactly a barrel of laughs

Don Johnson is suing the National Enquirer for libel over the tabloid’s claims that his drunkenness on the set of “Nash Bridges” disrupted production. The Enquirer says it stands by the story, which also said Johnson was “paranoid to the point that he was sleeping with a gun.”

Guess you could call her Byrne’s latest flame

The New York Daily News reports that the father of Madonna’s baby, Carlos Leon, may find himself out in the cold because The Maternal Girl has been making time with Gabriel Byrne, who used to be married to Ellen Barkin and was most recently seen with Julia Ormond.

The life and times of Bobby Brown, Chapter 11

Whitney Houston hopped a plane back to L.A. after an argument in singer hubby Bobby Brown’s tour bus in Utah, according to People magazine. And on Monday, Brown filed for bankruptcy after a creditor got a court order to seize equipment from his Bosstown studios.

Bobby’s new excuse: the DeVoe made him do it

Looks like the boisterous Brown isn’t the only bad boy in the reunited New Edition. Bandmate Ronnie DeVoe was arrested along with two members of the group’s entourage at a Louisville hotel early Monday when they swore at and scuffled with police who responded to a report that DeVoe was drinking and loitering in the hallway.

Hey, guys, she’s not the one smacking her lips

And speaking of bad boys, Charlie Sheen is being sued by a woman who claims he slammed her to the marble floor of his home in December, opening a seven-stitch lip wound, took off her bloody dress and put it in a trash bag and threatened to kill her if she told anybody. A spokesman for Sheen, who was arrested after the incident but never charged, called the suit a “cheesy attempt at extortion.”
